It’s with great sadness I present this video on the certainty of Frost Mage nerf or nerfs coming in Patch 5.4, which will coincide with Arena Season 14.   Release date for Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.4, Siege of Orgrimmar, based on experience, will be September 3rd, 2013 and I read somewhere there is a change to Frostburn.  Frostburn is the passive ability associated with Mastery for Frost Mages and it increases damage against targets “considered” frozen.  Unlike a fire mage, who depends on their melee range root to hold long enough to have their target actually frozen to perform a Shatter, the one thing that has always made a Frost Mage a Frost Mage.  Why are fire mages trying to execute abilities designed for Frost Specialization?  Because they want the critical strike boost associated with the Shatter ability for their PyroBlasts.  Most Fire Mages I’ve personally Pwnd utilize FrostJaw, at the expense of Ring of Frost (you can’t have both), because they want the root to be able to Deep Freeze the target and Spam 3 Instant Pyroblasts in a row and perform a Shatter, where these PyroBlasts are all critical strikes.   How many times have you been in a situation where a mage that did not have Ring of Frost was needed or wanted for any kind of organized battleground engagment?

Note to Fire Mages – 6 instant cast spells > 3 instant cast spells.  And Fire Mage, riddle me this … how many times have you successfully executed a Deep Freeze Shatter with Pyroblast?  I execute 6 instant cast spells with Time Warp (Fire Mage, you gotta use Time Warp to get 3 Instant PyroBlasts in a row as well) all the time.  4 Fingers of Frost Ice Lance and 2 BrainFreeze FrostFire Bolts.

My mastery is currently at 72.46% increased damage against targets considered frozen.  This is all +320 Mastery Gems, a PvE trinket with massive hit, which allows me to get mastery gear (bracers and cloak) instead of hit gear.  You see in this video, that much Mastery = OP.

And fire mage, you missed some kind of important meeting at the beginning of MoP where they talked about Frost Mages = Winning in 5.0 and beyond yet you’ve never learned the spec because it was always considered the “PvP” spec.  And we all know the difficulty in learning a new rotation so you’ve spent 10 months now missing out on the absolute most fabulous class of bitch slap in the history of World of WarCraft – The Mists of Pandaria Frost Mage, whether it be PvE or PvP.
